Huge Early 1900's Silver Filigree Enamel Butterfly Brooch Antique Oriental Jewelry, Chinese Export to France

This huge and magnificent butterfly brooch, adorably handcrafted in gilded silver, was created at the beginning of the 20th century. The piece is looked to be made of fine lace, which is an antique filigree technique, and embellished by the bright multicoloured vitreous enamel. Hard to believe, but twisted wire used for filigree decorations is only 1/4 of the millimetre thick! Origin: Chinese export to France Date: 1910~1920's . The butterfly was made during late Art Nouveau, Art Deco periods in Europe and was associated at the time with rebirth, change, hope and beauty.
